It's official.
The Droid Razr Maxx releases Friday. I admit that while I’m over the moon to finally have a phone - and one that should blow my Droid X out of the water in regards to battery life, I’m a little sad, too. It’s been nice to not constantly be on, to not constantly be ‘available’ to anyone who has the right 10 digit number.

I retract my previous statement
I just said “Oh, I think I have her cell number” and simultaneously reached for my phone.  Guess I’m not as broken of the habit as I thought I was.  On a related note, they officially confirmed that the Razr Maxx will be available on Friday!

I've broken the inclination.
Went all day without having a “where did my phone go?” moment or a moment when I reached into my purse/pocket to pull out my phone.  I love it, but worried that I’m going to revert straight back to old habits when I have a new phone to play with and explore. We shall see….

Day 10.
I’m gracefully surviving having no phone. Skyped with the best friend, emailed with my Mom so all of that’s covered. I’m hoping that when I DO get a phone back that I’ll be much less dependent on it in terms of habitually picking it up to check the time/email, etc.  But again, really enjoying being more disconnected in the sense that there’s no expectations of an...

TGIF....and I just bought a new watch.
I’m almost to the finish line of surviving a work week (albeit a 4 day work week) sans phone. While it’s definitely been a challenge in meetings and going meeting to meeting not to have a phone to keep an eye on email and to communicate with colleagues, the biggest annoyance has been not having a reliable timepiece. It’s been so long since I’ve worn a watch that my watches...

Day 7. I can do this.
First, many thanks to those who have offered to lend a phone, help me get one uber cheap, or offered other bits of advice on alternate solutions while I’m waiting for the Razr Maxx to drop. While tempting, I’m determined to stick this out.  Second, I have to admit that I wouldn’t feel nearly as comfortable with this endeavor if it weren’t for the fact that I live, work and...

Day 6. The novelty is starting to wear off.
The first couple of days of not having a phone wasn’t too huge of a deal since it was the weekend and I was already playing it low key. It was nice not to be habitually checking my phone throughout the day/evenings over the long weekend (especially as I was playing it really low key at home anyways). It even counterintuitively translated into not having my laptop out in order to check my...

Why not start at Day 5?
I’m on Day 5 without a phone. Not by choice, but completely through my own clumsiness. My beloved Droid X has gone to Droid heaven. I originally thought it’d be only a day, and I wasn’t too upset about it because I was in desperate need of an upgrade anyways. I figured I’d go to CostCo, get the Razr, and then return it when the Razr Maxx comes out in a week (or two,...
