Why not start at Day 5?

I’m on Day 5 without a phone. Not by choice, but completely through my own clumsiness. My beloved Droid X has gone to Droid heaven. I originally thought it’d be only a day, and I wasn’t too upset about it because I was in desperate need of an upgrade anyways. I figured I’d go to CostCo, get the Razr, and then return it when the Razr Maxx comes out in a week (or two, or….). But, we don’t always get what we want, and Verizon put the kabosh on that through a ridiculous policy that allows me to upgrade in a Verizon store but not via a third party before April. Getting a super cheap non smart phone had its own challenges in making sure that my unlimited data plan didn’t get messed with, and my patience for wading through all the possibilities of an interim phone finally disappeared.

So here I am. Already on Day 5 of no phone and I’ve not gone into actual withdrawal yet. I’ve resigned myself to not having a phone for a week..or two….  Did I mention that the official release date for the Razr Maxx hasn’t been announced? Let’s hope that the chatter about Jan 26 is true. So far I’ve muddled along with no texting, no camera at the ready, no GPS, no Foursquare, Facebook mobile, or even a clock. (I confess that I’ve been playing Words With Friends on my Kindle). And honestly I’ve relished not being able to check work email or receive work texts (sorry MM and SS!) So, this is my own little deprivation study of sorts. Wish me luck.

Guess it’s time to buy that watch that I’ve had my eyes on…
